How Taking a Step Back Transformed My Approach to Last-Mile Delivery

What if, instead of climbing the career ladder, you took a step back to start from the ground up, with all the knowledge and experience you’ve gained? That’s exactly what I did.

After years as a COO, manager, and co-owner in the logistics industry, I made an unconventional decision: I returned to the frontline as a last-mile delivery driver. I experienced firsthand how operational strategies translated into real-world execution. I was intrigued to see beyond the dashboards and KPIs and to truly understand how decisions impacted the people doing the work.

For more than a year, I optimized my own deliveries, tracked my performance, and collected data. I didn’t just analyze numbers; I looked for the why behind them. What external and internal factors influenced performance? What patterns emerged when comparing real-life experiences with operational data?

Through this hands-on approach, I discovered a critical insight: the human factor in last-mile delivery is often overlooked in traditional optimization models. This realization led me to develop a software solution designed from the driver’s perspective, one that provides performance insights directly to them, helping them understand how their actions impact efficiency.

By bridging the gap between data and human experience, I shifted my focus to integrating the human factor into last-mile logistics analysis. Because at the end of the day, the key to optimizing last-mile delivery isn’t just in the numbers, it’s in the people behind them.

Join me as I share the lessons I've learned during my time as a last-mile delivery driver. If you have any questions or want to chat - don't hesitate to reach out! Check back soon for more.

Thanks,

Ady
